Media Repair and File Recovery

Some material cannot be done again — an event happens once, and the only footage of an older relative was recorded that one time. What is needed then is not another shoot, but a way to bring out the data that already exists.

Audio Noise Repair

Clipping, mains hum, air-conditioning rumble, background noise and room reverb. As long as the voice signal is still there, most interference can be separated out and suppressed.

Old Video Restoration

VHS, DV tapes and early phone footage. Deinterlacing, noise reduction, colour correction and upscaling, so old material looks good again on today's screens.

Why repair means “assess first, quote after”

Two people can both say “there is noise on my recording”. One may be the low hum of air conditioning — there is a clear line of attack on that. The other may be an intermittent signal caused by a faulty microphone — and that is close to hopeless. They sound the same when described, but what can actually be done is worlds apart.

So we will not give you a price before we have heard and watched the file. Send the file, let us assess it in practice, we report the improvement you can expect, and we quote only if we judge it can be handled — then you decide whether to go ahead. If we judge that it cannot be fixed, we will explain why, directly.

That process is fairer to both sides: you are not paying up front for a result nobody is sure of, and we do not have to make promises we cannot keep in order to win the job.

How to send us your files

Put the files on Google Drive and share the folder with us — we can only tell what is possible once we have looked at them. Assessment is free.

1

Create a folder

ComputerIn Drive: “New” → Folder, then drag your files in

PhoneDrive app: “+” → Folder → Upload

2

Turn on sharing

ComputerRight-click the folder → “Share” → “Anyone with the link”

PhoneHold the folder → “⋮” → Manage access → “Anyone with the link”

3

Send us the link

ComputerClick “Copy link”, paste it into an email or LINE

PhoneTap “Copy link”, paste it into LINE

4

Tell us what is wrong

One line is enough: will not open, noisy, volume jumps around…

Knowing the symptom lets us give you a more accurate assessment

The repair process

Every file is damaged differently, so the process starts with looking at it — not with a price.

Send the files

Upload the original files to Google Drive and share the folder link with us. Please send files that have not been through any other software — repair works best that way.

A real assessment

We open the file and actually listen to it and watch it, work out what caused the damage, and how far it can be improved. Every file is different, and this step cannot be guessed at from experience. The assessment stage is free.

Report and quote

We tell you what we found and how much improvement you can expect, and send a quote for you to decide on. If we judge that it cannot be handled, we will say so directly rather than take the job on regardless.

Payment, then work begins

We start work once the quote is agreed and payment is complete. When it is finished we deliver the files through Google Drive, along with a before-and-after comparison for you to check.

Frequently asked questions

Repair or reshoot — which should I choose?

If the content can be done again (a voiceover you can simply re-record, for example), re-recording is usually the cheapest route. But whenever the material cannot be reproduced — a live event, an interview, a family record — repair is more or less the only option, and it is worth having assessed.

How do you quote for repair work?

Every file is damaged differently, so our process is this: you send the files via Google Drive, we assess how much they can actually be improved, and we quote only once we judge that the work can be handled. You then decide whether to go ahead.

Do you keep my files?

No. Once the repair is finished and delivered, we delete the files within the agreed period, and we do not use your content for any public display or promotion.

Can repair and video editing be done together?

Yes, and it is usually more efficient. Many clients need both audio repair and video editing after an event or an interview has been shot, and we can assess and quote for it all within the same project.

Can I commission you from outside Taiwan?

Yes. The whole process runs through Google Drive and online communication; nothing physical needs to be posted (unless it is a physical tape that needs transferring).

Want us to take a look at a file first?

Upload the original to Google Drive and send us the folder link. We will assess it and tell you how much it can realistically be improved.
